25 Sept. 2026Earlier this month, UAF became aware of a social media post from a former UAF employee stating that multiple people who have worked in the Gruening Building have been diagnosed with cancer over the course of the last two decades. The first thing you need to know is that UAF does not have any evidence of an environmental hazard in the building. Nevertheless, we have contacted the Alaska Department of Health about the post and have shared the information we have with their team. TEMPORARY Pause - HazWaste Pickup
9 Sept. 2026HazWaste pickups will be temporarily paused to support preparation for our campus' quarterly hazardous waste disposal. Pickups will resume October 9. During this temporary pause, HazWaste pickup requests can still be submitted in CampusOptics. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free to reach out to me with any concerns.
