Rapid Deployment Inundation Platforms Ready for Deployment

AHERC鈥檚 Rapid Deployment Inundation Platforms (RDIPs) are ready to be deployed in coastal, North West Alaska. A final sensor test confirmed that the sensors will detect a storm event and log storm data at one sample per second.

The high-resolution water level data will help researchers understand how storms are changing and their impact on coastal erosion in Alaska. The platforms and sensors will be deployed in the high-erosion impact communities of Kivalina, Shaktoolik, and Shishmaref in late August and will collect data throughout the fall and winter storm season.

The RDIP project is in coordination with the and is funded by the . For more project information contact Nick Konefal at nkonefal@alaska.edu
