AHERC researchers prepare hydrokinetic mooring for deployment

Kvichak River,
Igiugig, Alaska

AHERC Research Engineers Nick Konefal and Paul Duvoy are preparing a mooring for deployment in support of the Igiugig Photo from Energy.gov (RivGen庐 Power System on station in
Village Council's Kvichak River, Igiugig, Alaska prior to deployment July 2015) "Next Generation MHK River Power System, Optimized for Performance, Durability and Survivability" US Department of Energy funded project.

The mooring will be deployed in the Kvichak River to monitor water column ice and velocity over the next 6 months. The real time monitoring system was designed by AHERC intern Andrew Cannavo working under Nick's supervision. The measurements are in support of ORPC Inc.'s effort to deploy their RivGen(R) river energy converter in the Kvichak River in Igiugig year round.
