Arctic Remote Energy Networks Academy (ARENA) Open for Business

Arctic Remote Energy Networks Academy (ARENA) Open for Business

ARENA focuses on sharing knowledge and establishing professional networks related to microgrids and integration of renewable resources for remote Arctic communities.  It has been endorsed by the Arctic Council's Sustainable Development Working Group.  The United States, Canada, Finland, Iceland and Gwich鈥檌n Council International are co-leading an initial offering of the program this year.  Details about the program are available at ARENA section of ACEP鈥檚 website (http://bit.ly/1RM3Vy7).  It includes a series of pre-recorded web-based seminars that introduce and provide highlights related to key Arctic energy topics.  ARENA will incorporate in-depth learning opportunities that combine classroom and field-learning opportunities at sites across the Arctic.

This August, ACEP is hosting the initial ARENA onsite program in Alaska.  Approximately twenty early-career energy professionals will be selected to participate in the program, drawing from an international pool of applicants that spans the circumpolar region and the many other areas of the world where hybrid diesel-renewables microgrids are used.

The application period for the ARENA 2016 Alaska onsite program is now open!  Potential participants and their sponsors should review the program information available at ARENA鈥檚 webspace. Applicants are requested to indicate their interest for consideration via the section of the website no later than April 18.
